Diploma Policy

Undergraduate Program

A degree shall be granted to a student who has been enrolled in our school for a designated period of time, completed designated courses, exercises and practical trainings, passed all tests, and earned a designated number of credits, in accordance with the educational goals of Osaka Dental University.

We produce people who not only has expertise, but also solve problems patients are facing with the spirit of "Philanthropy," and submit their knowledge they attained and skills they invented to the society with the spirit of "Public Interest."

  • Students should have basic knowledge, skills, decision-making and problem-solving abilities as a medical professional.
  • Students should have the ability to appropriately deliver and present results, by combining their own knowledge, skills, and attitudes they nurtured through lectures and practical trainings.
  • Students should have scientific inquisitive mind and aspirations for knowledge, skills and techniques related to oral health sciences.
  • Students should demonstrate extensive knowledge on medicine, welfare, and relevant systems and can contribute to people's oral health.
  • Students should kindly interact with others and contribute to society through dental care, with a strong sense of ethics and humanity.

Department of Oral Health Sciences

A degree shall be granted to a student who attained all of the following abilities, in addition to the Diploma Policy of the Faculty of Health Sciences:

  • Students should acquire sufficient knowledge and skills as a specialist to protect oral health.
  • Students should be able to play a leading role in the super-aging society as a medical professional who can develop and implement a care plan by collaborating with multiple professions in the medical and welfare fields.
  • Students should demonstrate the ability to extract and resolve oral health problems.

Department of Oral Health Engineering

A degree shall be granted to a student who attained all of the following abilities, in addition to the Diploma Policy of the Faculty of Health Sciences:

  • Students should acquire sufficient knowledge and high skills as a specialist who can contribute to oral health.
  • Students should be able to play a leading role in the super-aging society as a medical professional who can cooperate with multiple professions in the medical and welfare fields, provide knowledge and skills, and make appropriate proposals.
  • Students should have the ability to contribute to development of oral engineering and improve dental care.
  • Students should demonstrate the ability to extract and resolve issues related to oral appliances through communication with patients.

Curriculum Policy

Undergraduate Program

In order for students to acquire advanced knowledge, skills, and attitudes described in the policy of conferral of degrees, our curricula are organized so that they can systematically learn necessary content and methods in each department. We examine whether students have acquired knowledge, skills, and attitudes based on lectures, practical trainings, exercises, and tests.

We provide necessary education and produce personnel ready to serve in dental medicine/care, by cultivating bachelors of oral health sciences and bachelors of oral health engineering who can demonstrate a wide range of knowledge and skills, have philanthropic mind, and respond flexibly.

Department of Oral Health Sciences

Students are encouraged to acquire broad education and communication skills as a healthcare professional, foster problem-solving ability and aspirations, and master functional oral care, visiting dental care, and a broad spectrum of dental knowledge as a dental care professional adaptable to the super-aging society. We provide career education, general education, and comprehensive medical education, while pursuing studies in welfare and clinical dental medicine.

  • Through early clinical exposure, volunteer activities, and on-site/clinical training, we foster the founding spirit of "Philanthropy and Public Interest", sense of ethics, humanity, in addition to communication skills to interact with patients.
  • Courses of general education are provided so students can develop a competence suitable as a member of society.
  • We develop students' knowledge and skills as a dental hygienist and basic ability to independently extract and solve problems by teaching basic oral science, social oral science, clinical specialized education, and clinical education.
  • Through joint classes with the Department of Oral Health Engineering and courses related to medicine and welfare, we develop students' skills for medical communication and multidisciplinary collaboration and foster their awareness as a healthcare professional.
  • Courses focusing on the elderly population such as "Geriatric Dentistry" and "Oral Health Science Home Visit Practice" are provided focusing on functional care to nurture human resources adaptable to the super-aging society.
  • In comprehensive education, we nurture students' ability to foster aspirations and advance dentistry by asking them to define their own theme, explore it, and present results.

Department of Oral Health Engineering

Students are encouraged to acquire broad education and communication skills as a healthcare professional, as well as new digital dental processing technologies that may be required as a dental care professional adaptable to the super-aging society. We provide career education, general education, and comprehensive medical education, in addition to studies in welfare, extensive clinical dental medicine, and digital processing, which have not been focused in the past.

  • Through early clinical exposure, volunteer activities, and practical training of medical and dental cooperation, as well as clinical training of oral engineering at hospital, we foster the founding spirit of "Philanthropy and Public Interest", sense of ethics, humanity, in addition to communication skills to interact with patients.
  • Courses of general education are provided so students can develop a competence suitable as a member of society.
  • We develop students' knowledge and skills as a dental technician and basic ability to independently extract and solve problems by teaching basic oral science, social oral science, clinical specialized education focused on new engineering technologies, and clinical education.
  • Through joint classes with the Department of Oral Health Sciences and courses related to medicine and welfare, we develop students' skills for medical communication and multidisciplinary collaboration and foster their awareness as a healthcare professional.
  • We provide a series of courses targeting the elderly, such as Geriatric Dentistry and Oral Engineering Home Visit Practice, and nurture human resources adaptable to the super-aging society.
  • In comprehensive education, we nurture students' ability to foster aspirations and advance dentistry by asking them to define their own theme, explore it, and present results.

Admission Policy

Undergraduate Program

In order to develop human resources in line with educational goals based on our founding spirit of "Philanthropy and Public Interest," we accept individuals who have a strong sense of purpose as healthcare professionals, sufficient basic academic skills, and communication abilities to independently think, decide, and express themselves.

Students required by the Faculty of Health Sciences are "those who demonstrate a sense of compassion, excellent cooperation and communication skills to kindly interact with others, and strong interest in and desire to learn medical care and welfare, while continually learning and making efforts to benefit society as a healthcare professional."

Department of Oral Health Sciences

Self-management is required to promote others' oral health. Cooperativeness is also important for multidisciplinary collaboration. It is also necessary to generate unique ideas to make a progress in dental care, and following students are desirable for the Department of Oral Health Sciences.

  • A person who has sufficient basic academic skills to learn oral health sciences.
    Especially, a person with basic knowledge of "English," "Mathematics," "Japanese," and "Biology," covered by textbooks studied in high school.
  • A person who has a strong inquisitive mind pursuing new knowledge and technology and aspiration for improvement, beyond existing frameworks.
  • A person who is able to listen and work with others to solve a problem.
  • A person who can manage his/her health.
  • A person who is willing to contribute to maintenance and promotion of others' health.
  • A person who is highly interested in oral hygiene.

Department of Oral Health Engineering

Self-management is required to promote others' oral health. Cooperativeness is also important for multidisciplinary collaboration. Interest in science and technology and passion for development are required for mastering and advancing technologies to produce oral appliances, and the following students are desirable for the Department of Oral Health Engineering.

  • A person who has sufficient basic academic ability to learn oral engineering.
    Especially, a person with basic knowledge of "a foreign language (English)," "Mathematics," "Japanese," "Biology," "Physics," and "Chemistry," covered by textbooks studied in high school.
  • A person who has a strong inquisitive mind pursuing new knowledge and technology and aspiration for improvement, beyond existing frameworks.
  • A person who is interested in science and technology.
  • A person who is able to listen and work with others to solve a problem.
  • A person who can manage his/her health.
  • A person who is willing to contribute to maintenance and promotion of others' health.
