Diploma Policy

A master degree (in oral science) shall be granted to a student who earned a designated number of credits and passed the dissertation review and the examination at the Course of Oral Sciences, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Osaka Dental University (Master's program). The following abilities are required to attain the degree:

  1. To be able to conduct research and development that contribute to human health by developing medical and health science.
  2. To demonstrate advanced expertise and skills in medical and health science.
  3. To be able to educate others to obtain specialized knowledge and skills.
  4. To exhibit broad insights on medical and health science.
  5. To be able to play an active role as a healthcare professional with an international perspective.

Curriculum Policy

In order to bring students to the level shown in the Diploma Policy, the following curriculum policy has been established at the Course of Oral Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Osaka Dental University (Master's program). We assign necessary courses, organize and implement the curriculum, based on this curriculum policy. Student’s achievement level is evaluated with a focus on reports, presentations and participation in discussions, and master’s dissertation is rigorously reviewed.

  1. To impart the abilities to invent, plan and execute research through basic research learning.
  2. To impart the abilities to compile and analyze research information, focusing on learning of statistical methods.
  3. To impart the abilities to present research results by learning how to prepare research papers and give presentations.
  4. To cultivate the ability to develop medical health science through practical training for research.
  5. To cultivate highly specialized skills and knowledge by offering highly specialized courses.
  6. To establish educational courses and train educational skills.
  7. To foster a broad perspective by offering joint courses for dental hygienists and dental technicians.
  8. To develop high English skills and international perspectives by offering English classes and other courses related to international medical care.

Admission Policy

Students required by the Course of Oral Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Osaka Dental University (Master's program) are those who have a strong sense of ethics as healthcare professionals and are able to make an effort to undertake research and education with willingness to maintain and improve human health through the oral cavity. In addition, because both dental hygienists and dental technicians interact and learn, they are required to have not only their expertise but also scientific inquisitive mind for health sciences and communication skills.
Based on the above ideas, we define the admission policy and accept students having the following profile:

  1. A qualified dental hygienist or dental technician with the required academic skills to complete the Graduate School of Health Sciences
  2. A person who has academic inquisitive mind and is willing to contribute to development of the medical health science
  3. A person who has a basic skill to process information
  4. A person who independently identifies and solves problems.
  5. A person with a strong sense of ethics and communication skills
  6. A person who has the English ability as required for obtaining a bachelor's degree
