Diploma Policy

A doctoral degree (in oral science) shall be granted to a student who earned a designated number of credits and passed the dissertation review and the examination at the Course of Oral Sciences, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Osaka Dental University (Doctoral program). The following abilities are required to attain the degree:

  1. To be able to independently plan and implement creative research in health sciences (oral health science or oral engineering).
  2. To be able to conduct research and development in cooperation with other organizations.
  3. To have the leadership ability to train educators and researchers on health sciences (oral health science or oral engineering).
  4. To demonstrate management skills in education, medical care and research institutions.
  5. To be able to conduct education and research with a broad perspective.

Curriculum Policy

In order to bring students to the level shown in the Diploma Policy, the following curriculum policy has been established at the Course of Oral Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Osaka Dental University (Doctoral program). We assign necessary courses, organize and implement the curriculum, based on this curriculum policy. Student's achievement level is evaluated with a focus on reports, presentations and participation in discussions, and doctoral dissertation is rigorously reviewed.

  1. To acquire abilities as research supervisors in oral health science or oral engineering, by learning research guidance.
  2. To acquire research ability of a doctoral standard on oral health science or oral engineering through highly specialized research.
  3. To nurture management competency in education and research of dental hygienists and dental technicians by learning human resource and organizational management.
  4. To enhance competence as a researcher through researches of the industry or other fields or through study of occupational health.

Admission Policy

Students required by the doctoral (latter) program in the Course of Oral Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences have a sense of ethics as a healthcare professional, education and research capabilities in health sciences, in particular oral health science or oral engineering, and are highly motivated to contribute to the development of dental medicine.
Based on the above ideas, we define the admission policy of the doctoral (latter) program in the Course of Oral Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences and accept students having the following profile:

  1. A person who has basic research capabilities in health sciences (oral health science or oral engineering)
  2. A person who can provide education to students learning health sciences (oral health science or oral engineering)
  3. A person who has a strong will to contribute to development of dental care
  4. A person who has a foreign language skill necessary for academic research
  5. A person who has the expertise and skills necessary for completing the doctoral (latter) program of the Graduate School
  6. A person who has a sense of ethics appropriate as a healthcare professional
