Selection Method

Acceptance or rejection will be evaluated comprehensively based on the basic academic skills test, an interview of the applicant, and survey form prepared by the principal of the high school, as well as capabilities, etc. required for university education. The interview test includes oral examination. The quality as a healthcare professional such as willingness to study, ability to think, and ability to communicate will be examined.

Flow from application to admission procedures

Complete 01 to 03 within the application period.

  1. Preparation
    Among the application documents, obtain those that need to be prepared by the high school. Also obtain the face photo data to be uploaded to the application site and “Kaku-2” envelope for sending the documents. You need the environment where the data on the site can be printed.
  2. Application registration on the application site and payment of selection examination fee
    Register the application. You need to select the payment method on the application site (by credit card, payment at a convenience store or Pay-easy).
    Examination fee: 30,000 yen, second or subsequent application: 10,000 yen
  3. Mailing application documents
    After the application is registered, My Page will be created on the application site, the address label can be downloaded to paste on the “Kaku-2” envelope for sending documents. Put the following documents and send by simple registered mail / express mail (must reach us within the application period). If application deadline cannot be met, please hand in directly at the university office.
    Since the application form data is automatically transferred to us, there is no need to send the form by post.

    After the Office of Faculty of Health Sciences confirms application registration, receipt of examination fee, and arrival of documents, the PDF data of an admission ticket for examination will be issued in My Page on the application site (it will be notified to the registered e-mail address). Print out and bring it on the day of admission selection. Regarding the visit for examination, refer page 12 of the Admission Guide.

  5. Confirmation of acceptance and admission procedures
    The selection result will be made public in My Page on the application site at 15:00 on the day of the announcement of acceptance. Also, the notification of the selection result will be sent on the same day (It will arrive on or after the following day). The applicants who pass the examination need to make the payment at the time of admission procedures and submit the necessary documents according to the enclosed guidance on the admission procedures. The applicants who have completed the admission procedures will receive a guide to pre-admission preparation education at a later date.

A person who is expected to graduate from a high school (including completion of latter courses at a secondary education school) in March 2024 and is recommended by the school principal * There is no standard for the grade point average scores.

Use of the English examination offered by a private institution

In this system, the average score of the above “foreign language” will be given by submitting “passing certificate of EIKEN grade 2 or higher” or “official certificate of TOEIC L&R 550 points or higher.” If you use this system, you must include “foreign language” in the subjects for the test of basic academic skills. We will adopt the higher of two scores at the admission decision: the average score given or the score of “foreign language” in the examination.

An applicant must meet any of the following criteria:

  1. A person who graduated or is expected to graduate from a high school (including completion of a latter course at secondary education school; the same applies hereinafter) by March 2024
  2. A person who completed or is expected to complete the 12-year school education through a regular curriculum by March, 2024
  3. A person who is deemed to have the scholastic ability equivalent to or higher than high school graduates or is expected to gain this ability by March 31, 2024, in accordance with the provisions of Article 150 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the School Education Act (as follows)
    • (1) A person who completed or is expected to complete the 12-year course of school education in a foreign countryby March 31, 2024
    • (2) A person who completed or is expected to complete the program at a Japanese school abroad certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as equivalent to that of a high school in Japan, by March 31, 2024
    • (3) A person who completed or is expected to complete an upper secondary course of a special training colleges designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (limited to the programs that require three or more years to complete and that satisfy criteria designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) after the date designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, or by March 31, 2024

Eligibility Requirements

1. Prerequisites
  • 1) A person who has no Japanese nationality
  • 2) A person who has or is expected to obtain a residential status of "student" at the time of enrollment
  • 3) A person who passed the N2 level or higher of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
  • 4) A person who has “220 points (including written score) or higher in Japanese” on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) *Only the results from the most recent two years are valid.
  • 5) A person who has “600 points or higher in the A-C level test (C grade)” on the Practical Japanese Proficiency Test (J-TEST)

  • 7) A person who has been recognized by Osaka Dental University as having Japanese language proficiency equivalent to or greater than those listed in 3) to 6) higher through an individual entrance qualifications screening* and who have reached the age of 18.

*1 If primary/secondary education offered in his/her home country is less than 12 years, an applicant should have completed or is expected to complete by March 31, 2025, "a preparatory curriculum for admission to a university in Japan," designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. An applicant must be 18 years old or older.
*2 An application is accepted if an applicant passed an examination equivalent to the Upper Secondary School Equivalency Examination in Japan, even if he/she did not graduate from a high school due to withdrawal, for example. However, an applicant must be 18 years old or older.

  1. The number of credits earned must be indicated in either academic transcript, certificate of graduation, or certificate of completion.
  2. Submitting Academic Transcript
    • Obtain transcript sealed tightly by the high school the applicant graduated. (This shall not apply when there are unavoidable circumstances such as translation by an official institution.)
    • If it is not written in Japanese or English, a translation to either language must be attached with certification by the high school the applicant graduated from or belongs to, an official institution such as the embassy or public translation company etc. (excluding Japanese language schools) which attests the translation is a true and accurate copy of the original document.
    • If there is a guide for curriculum of the high school the applicant graduated from or belongs to, attach to the transcript.
    • If there is no format for official academic transcript within the education system, the format is not specified. However, include the applicant’s grade point average and scholastic rank if possible.

    If it is not possible to submit academic transcript, submit alternative documents such as a copy of scholastic evaluation reports for each semester.

  3. Submitting Certificate of Graduation or Completion
    • Obtain original certificate of (expected) graduation or completion with (expected) month and year of graduation. If (expected) month and year of graduation is written on the academic transcript, submission of these documents is not required.
    • Obtain certificate sealed tightly by the high school the applicant graduated. (This shall not apply when there are unavoidable circumstances such as translation by an official institution etc.)
    • If it is not written in Japanese or English, a translation to either language must be attached with certification by the high school the applicant graduated from or belongs to, an official institution such as the embassy or public translation company etc. (excluding Japanese language schools) which attests the translation is a true and accurate copy of the original document.

  4. Announcement of Results
    • 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025
      At 3:00 p.m. of the day of announcement of results, notice of acceptance or rejection will be available Post@net by clicking the “Confirmation of the Examination Result” button within the “Application confirmation” page.
      On the same day, a letter of acceptance, etc. will be sent to applicants who passed the examination by postal mail (It will arrive after the day of the announcement of the results or later.).

      Note 1: We will not respond to any inquiries about acceptance or rejection by telephone, etc.
      Note 2: We do not display results in our school premises.

Essay

Understanding of the given task, logical thinking skills, writing skills, and basic knowledge will be evaluated.

Interview

Applicants will be asked about their reasons for application, motivation for learning, etc., and will be evaluated comprehensively based on their suitability to the Admission Policy.

Selection Method

To assess the three aspects of academic ability (“skill and knowledge,” “the abilities to think, decide, and express,” and “the attitude to learn through active collaboration with various people”) along with the diversity of the examinee, application documents including “Recommendation Letter” and “Essay of Ambitions After Entrance,” basic academic test, essay, and interview will be evaluated and acceptance decided based on the total scores.
However, regardless of the total score, a significantly low score for the essay or interview may indicate insufficient understanding of Japanese and could still lead to disqualification.

Refund of School Payment in Case of Withdrawal from Enrollment

When declining enrollment after the completion of enrollment registration, complete steps 01 to 03 by Friday, March 21, 2025.

  1. Notify the school of the withdrawal from admission by phone.
    • Confirm the examination number, name, reason for withdrawal, and applicant information.
    • Reception hours: 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.(Except Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays)

  2. Submit “Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment”
    • Fill out and stamp the necessary sections of ‛Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment' enclosed with the admission documents, and return by FAX.
    • If sending by Fax is difficult, attach the PDF file or a similar format of the “Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment” to an email. (E-mail: nyushi@cc.osaka-dent.ac.jp)
  3. Promptly send the completed ‛Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment' (original) and the ‛Letter of Acceptance' by post to the address below. When doing so, write “入学辞退届在中 (Contains Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment )” in red on the front of the envelope.

    If the “Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment” is submitted by Friday, March 21, 2025 (deliveries postmarked with deadline will be accepted), payment not including entrance fee will be refunded by the end of March, 2025.When declining enrollment between Saturday, March 22, 2025 and Monday, March 31, 2025 10:00 due to unavoidable circumstances, first contact the Admission Center by phone and immediately submit “Notification of Withdrawal from Enrollment” (designated form)and “Letter of Acceptance.” Payment not including entrance fee will be refunded in April.
    *Once paid, the entrance fee will not be refunded for any reason. (Please note that the Admission Center is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays excluding Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2025.)

  1. We will not accept an application if documents are incomplete.
  2. We will not return the submitted documents and examination fees.

[2] Precautions on the day of examination

1) Entry into and seating in the examination room

  1. Entrance to the campus is allowed from 8:00 a.m.
  2. Examinees should enter the room by 10 minutes before the start of the examination.
  3. Examinees who are late 20 minutes or more after the start of the examination will not be allowed to take the examination.
  4. Examinees who contracted COVID-19, Influenza, Norovirus and have not healed yet should contact the Admissions Center in advance.
  5. Be sure to bring the examination admission card. On the day of the examination, you need to always carry the examination admission card with you. If you lost or forgot to bring the examination admission card on the day of the examination, go to the Testing Division and receive a temporary admission card.
  6. Take a seat where your examination number is displayed, and place your admission card at a position that is clearly visible from the aisle.
  7. The test supervisor may instruct to temporarily remove the mask for verifying your identification with your photo, etc.


2) Handling of personal belongings
  1. In addition to the admission card, items allowed to be placed on the desk during the examination are: black lead pencils (No. 1 or 2; HB or B) ,pencil cap,mechanical pencils with black leads (No. 1 or 2; HB or B), erasers, pencil sharpeners (excluding electric or large-size sharpeners and knives), watch or clock (excluding those with dictionary, calculator, computing functions, etc., devices which are difficult to identify their functions, those making ticking sounds, kitchen timers, and large clocks), eye glasses, handkerchief, tissue paper (out of a bag or box), and eye-drops. If you use or place other personal belongings, we may temporarily suspend your examination and hold them until the end of the examination.
  2. Do not use mobile phones, smartphones, wearable devices, electronic dictionaries, IC recorders, or other electronics or noisy devices. Before entering the examination room, be sure to unset the alarm, turn off the power, and keep it in your bag. If you hold any of these items during the examination (either holding in your hand or in a pocket of your clothe you wear) or place them on a desk without keeping them in your bag, it can be deemed as cheating.
  3. Do not wear clothing that has English letters or mathematical symbols printed on it. Those who are wearing such clothing may be instructed to remove it.


3) Precautions at the time of examination
  1. Supervisors distribute examination papers 5 minutes prior to the start of examination. Do not touch examination papers until instructed.
  2. Be sure to enter the examination number and name at the start of the examination.
  3. If you wish to leave the room during the examination for an inevitable reason, for example when you feel sick or need to use the bathroom, etc., raise your hand and follow the instructions of the supervisor.
  4. No relief measures will be taken if daily living noise, etc. (for example, sound of supervisors' footsteps or conversation required for them to fulfill their task, airplane, automobile, wind, rain, air conditioning, cough, sneezing, sniffling of other examinees, brief ringing of a cell phone, clock, and chimes of a surrounding building) occurs during the examination.


4) The following actions may be considered as acts of dishonesty:
  1. Cheating (using cheat sheets or reference books, looking at other applicants' answers, receiving answers from other applicants, or providing answers to other applicants, etc.)
  2. Using tools that are not permitted (as mentioned above)
  3. Not following the supervisor's instructions in the examination room
  4. Taking the test paper or answer sheet out of the examination room without the supervisor's permission during the exam
  5. Someone other than the applicant taking the exam in place of the applicant
    If any act of dishonesty is observed during the examination, the supervisor may issue a warning and instruct the applicant(s) to cease the exam or leave the examination room. Even if there is time to address the suspicion of dishonesty, the applicant(s) cannot request an extension of the exam time. If dishonesty is confirmed, the applicant(s) will be barred from taking further exams, and all results from the entrance selection process for that academic year at Osaka Dental University will be invalidated. Additionally, the entrance examination fee will not be refunded. Furthermore, if applicants who have already passed or are on the waiting list from previous entrance selections at Osaka Dental University are found to engage in dishonesty in subsequent exams, their earlier results will be retroactively canceled.


5) Additional information
  1. Parking is not available for cars or motorcycles at the examination site. Use public transportation.
  2. Keep quiet inside the examination site.
  3. Applicants are allowed to enter only designated areas.
  4. Lunch is to be brought and taken at designated seat.
  5. There is no waiting room for parents, etc. Please note in advance.
  6. If applicants do not take all the exams in the entrance selection process, they will be disqualified.
  7. If you have a physical disability and require special considerations during the entrance examination, or if you need any support after enrollment, please inform the Admission Center at least one month prior to the entrance selection process you wish to take. Depending on the severity and type of disability, a preliminary interview may be conducted as necessary.
