  • Research on application of dental lasers to operative dentistry
  • Research on efficiency and ergonomics of dental education

Features of this major / Prospects following course completion

In the first year and the first half of the second year, individual themes will be explored while learning the basics of research, including experimental procedures and methods of preparing research papers. At the same time, as a postgraduate dentist at the Department of Operative Dentistry of the University Hospital, one will endeavor to acquire highly specialized medical techniques while engaging in medical practice. In the latter half of the second year, under guidance of a supervisor in charge, one will strengthen his/her efforts in research on each theme, and announce accomplishments whenever appropriate through presentations at academic conferences and/or print publications. After completion of the graduate school, one may be engaged in education and clinical practice while continuing research at the university as a faculty member or hospital healthcare professional, social contribution as a clinician while making use of their own research results, or an international study program at a research institution associated with our faculty of operative dentistry.
