Features of this major / Prospects following course completion

One can select basic research on functional biomaterials, molecular biology, and regenerative dentistry, or clinical research related to pediatric dentistry, under guidance to promote problem-solving and self-learning skills. In addition, training necessary for being qualified as a pediatric dental specialist or a certified dentist for disabled patients can be provided. One can also receive detailed guidance not only on research and clinical practice but also on sociality, and can nurture humanity and dignity as a supervisor or educator.

After completion of the graduate school, one can be accredited as a specialist by Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry one-year training in pediatric dentistry. Career paths can vary, and one can choose to become a postdoctoral fellow, a university faculty member, or a lecturer (part-time) for example. While persons who want to be a clinician can open their own office or work in a hospital, it is our strong wish that they become a supervising dentist with researcher’s mind (particularly in dental care for children or patients with disabilities).
