
2025 (the 7th year of Reiwa) marks the Year of the Snake. At Osaka Dental University, the new year started from January 6th. At our gathering held every year, the chairman and president gives an address in front of the faculty and staff. This event was held this year as part of the faculty/staff development program.
Chairman and President Takayoshi Kawazoe set "Innovation" as the key goal for this year, and while reaffirming the university’s initiatives and strengths, he spoke in detail about the future objectives for each school, faculty, and graduate school.
School of Dentistry & Graduate School of Dentistry
- - Achieve a pass rate of over 95% for the National Dentist Examination every year
- - Increase the number of female graduate students and female faculty members
Faculty of Health Sciences & Graduate School of Health Sciences
- - Promote innovation through new “System oral engineering course” and “healthcare information-related classes” in the Department of Oral Health Engineering
Faculty of Nursing
- - Establish a graduate school as soon as possible
- - Achieve a 100% pass rate in the first National Nursing Examination
Chairman and President Kawazoe emphasized that "strengthening the financial foundation is essential for the management of private universities." As measures to achieve this, he proposed: (1) turning the university hospital into a profitable entity, (2) increasing the number of international students in doctoral programs, (3) improving the national examination pass rates, and (4) raising the competition ratio for entrance exams. He expressed his intention to aim for a sustainable development of the university by promoting these initiatives.
