OSAKA DENTAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

About the department

In Anesthesiology, we take patients' overall condition into account so that patients with systemic medical diseases such as cardiac diseases and cerebrovascular disorders can receive dental treatment safely and at ease. We provide treatment with intravenous sedation or under general anesthesia without hospitalization for patients who cannot receive dental treatment due to extreme fear or choking reflex. In our Pain Clinic, we provide drug therapy and nerve blocking for orofacial pain.

Characteristics of dental care

1. Intravenous anesthesia/intravenous sedation

Exacerbation of systemic diseases or the onset of unexpected symptoms can be prevented by suppressing changes in blood pressure/heart rate due to anxiety or stress by administering drip infusion of intravenous anesthetics or using tranquilizers. Whole-body management is conducted using a biological monitor during dental treatment.

2. Dental treatment under general anesthesia

We perform dental treatment under general anesthesia without hospitalization for extraction of extra teeth or impacted wisdom teeth, in patients whose body movement cannot be suppressed by intravenous anesthesia.
